And... When I asked the early-stage VC on the voting committee for a call, he declined.

90% of the time, yes. 10% of the time, the exact opposite.

The exception is roll ups. When the founder of the acquired business can take a leadership role for you, those founders-turned-executives are amazing & will drive your business forward.
