After James Cleverly🇬🇧 said: “The figure is not showing a significant increase from last year’s figures and is largely in line with our own immigration statistics”

Hard to put into words just how enormous the recent flows of migration into UK are, so this chart 👇 is prob a better place to start.
This country has NEVER seen net migration as high as this.
Look at the population-adjusted figures going back to 1850.
It’s totally unprecedented.

Understand measures to bring down net migration being looked at include:

⚪️Changes to the rules on bringing families over on working visas

⚪️Increasing salary thresholds

⚪️Crackdown on abuses in the visa system

⚪️Looking again at shortage occupation scheme

Told Home Sec told staff in the first hours in the building:

“Our mission is simple. Keep the British people safe and secure. And Control our borders. That’s it. Everything flows from that and everything that fulfils that is what we confidently and competently get a grip on”…

There are lots of headline figures coming out of the ONS today, the most important one is this:

Net migration to the UK in the year to December 2022 has been revised up to 745,000.

That is a huge number. Higher than previously thought and a new record.
