Britain’s railways are broken.

Cancellations have soared to record levels, fares have risen almost twice as fast as wages, and taxpayers are paying through the teeth to prop up a failing system.

Labour will deliver a publicly owned railway that puts the passenger first.

Our statement on the sad death of Frank Field:

Frank was a steadfast, highly successful and diligent campaigner against child poverty. It is largely down to Frank that we have child benefit today – a truly towering achievement.

After 14 years of Tory failure, it’s time for change.

Only Labour will end the housing emergency.

The death of Lord Frank Field is a profound loss to politics and to our nation.

Very sad news. Always supportive of me as his Parliamentary neighbour, brimming with ideas to make society better - a great champion of his Birkenhead constituents: RIP Frank

Frank Field cared deeply about people and refused to be bound by the status quo. That drove his outstanding work campaigning against poverty and for Birkenhead. He taught me to be careful and reasonable when arguing for what I believe in and never to give up.

I’ll miss him.

Very sad news. Frank served the people of Birkenhead for 40 years. Everyone in the Wirral will be thinking of his life and contribution. He was indeed unique and a very special person to work with. His work will have an impact for many years to come. Thinking of his loved ones.
