10 years ago today, I moved to Rochester to start my residency Mayo Clinic Internal Medicine Residency Rochester
10 years later, I had the honor this morning of introducing my residency PD Amy Oxentenko MD at Medicine Grand Rounds Weill Cornell Medicine Weill Cornell Internal Medicine Chief Residents - where I am now on the Weill Cornell GI faculty.
Full circle.
The MOST deserving winner of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Pancreas Distinguished Mentor Award Santhi Swaroop Vege.
I have the honor of calling him both a mentor - and a friend. He put me on the track towards medical pancreas diseases and I would not be where I am today without him!
Ten years ago - the amazing, inspirational rockstar that is Amy Oxentenko MD was the reason I went to Mayo Clinic Internal Medicine Residency Rochester - and she is the reason I’m a gastroenterologist today. Truly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
She is the ultimate mentor, sponsor, and advocate!
Many thanks to American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) for the opportunity to moderate the Diagnostic Controversies in Chronic Pancreatitis session this morning Digestive Disease Week #DDW2023
Fantastic speakers - and a fantastic way to start off my birthday! 🎂
What a great night to unwind with all my colleagues Weill Cornell GI!
Many thanks to Dr. Bobby Brown (and his lovely wife Sarah) for organizing an excellent Weill Cornell GI comeback holiday party!
And Dr. Schnoll Sussman - the only person who could set up this amazing pic!
Thanks ACG for the chance to learn the latest clinical research and practice - but also to see my favorite people!
Amy Oxentenko MD and I have been taking this picture at #ACG every year since 2014!
And of course I had to include the crowns from Anne-Louise Oliphant!

Such a fun and educational hands-on skills session for Weill Cornell GI attendings by Dr. Schnoll Sussman and Reem Sharaiha, MD MS - polypectomy, bleeding, Ovesco - and trying out the newest clip technology!
Bonus: pretending to be a fellow again to learn from David L Carr-Locke!
When the fellows request a healthy treat … berry tarts count, right? There’s fruit and fiber!
Keeping the Weill Cornell GI fellows well-fed on service: key priority.
Congratulations Enrique de-Madaria on this exceptionally important trial - challenging how we initially resuscitate and monitor patients with acute pancreatitis. And this thread truly highlights the important of persistence and perseverance in research! Truly excellent work.
