Sunak should do the decent thing and resign. The party's polling is worse than ever, the councillor base is destroyed, and activists are completely demoralised.

The only thing that might possibly be able to turn this around is a fresh new team, ideally led by Kemi Badenoch.

What a nail-biter, 0.3% in the final West Mids vote:

Richard Parker on 225,590 votes - 37.8% vote
Andy Street on 224,082 votes - 37.5% vote

Just 1,508 votes in it...

I’d say give Sunak a drink but he’d fail to hold it

#Sunak can either consider his posiiton now, or wait to experience the mood of the backbenchers first. Either way, the loss of #AndyStreet on top of the Council losses will not inspire anyone to rally to the current trajectory under Sunk Sunak. #Elections2024 #westmidlandsmayor

From my understanding:

Sir Professor John Curtice was awake from 7am Thursday morning to after Newsnight on Friday evening.

He was then on BBC Breakfast at 7.35am this morning and has been on air throughout the day ever since.
