In Central Asia the first farmers ground and baked millet, whereas in East Asia it was boiled and steamed. Analysis of almost 4000 millet grains found that the grains changed size to fit these different cooking techniques as the crop moved west.

Objects found during excavation of houses at the 1070–664 BC Egyptian settlement of Tell el-Retaba. This is the only large-scale investigation into domestic archaeology from this period, shedding light on an understudied part of Egyptian history.

How did colonisation impact farming in the Andes?

Aerial photographs of pastoralist infrastructure from Huancavelica (🇵🇪) show that the majority grew up near to colonial settlements. Colonial developments clearly still have a big impact on Peru.
