Too many California children in low-income families aren't getting the robust services they are entitled to under federal law. My bill to address and rectify this shortcoming received bi-partisan support through the legislature and now awaits @CAGovernor's signature!

AB 1186 changes our approach to youth restitution by alleviating the economic hardships faced by many families burdened by youth restitution fines and making the assessment of youth restitution more equitable. This bill will advance accountability and healing in our communities.

Too many children and too many families lack access to fresh produce. This year, with AB 2786, I focused on expanding access to healthy food, especially for our underserved communities. If signed by @CAGovernor, it will expand access to farm-fresh food for WIC recipients

It was true when Vice President Kamala Harris worked at a McDonald's in Alameda, and it's true now: fast food workers deserve a living wage and a UNION!

AB 1975, food as medicine, would make medically supportive food a covered Medi-Cal benefit. I'm hopeful @CAGovernor will sign it into law to make the health benefits of nutritious food available to more Californians, especially for our state's most underserved communities.

The Green Schoolyards program by CAL FIRE PIO provides children most vulnerable to extreme heat with protection, health, and educational opportunities by planting trees and greening childcare facilities. I’m excited to see this program invest in our community and youth.

Three non-profits serving AD-18 residents are recipients of the CalMoneySmart Grant to provide financial education and financial empowerment programs. This will change lives and help local residents achieve long-term economic stability. Congrats to these amazing organizations!
