Pallab Ghosh Interesting. On one hand, it could be a good way to boost fibre and natural micronutritional levels of white loaves. On the other, manufacturers might use it to tempt people away from wholemeal, brown and other wholegrain loaves with 'healthier white' claims.

I'm all for making white bread more nutritious but chickpeas and pea protein are common allergens, so many people won't be able to take advantage of these health benefits. And these added ingredients will need to be very clearly labelled. Aberystwyth University

Here’s a plan to make sliced white loaves to be as nutritious as wholemeal. The researchers are adding small amounts of other grains to the flour mix with the aim of keeping the fluffy white taste and texture of white bread the same. bbc.com/news/articles/…

Cooling with laser light ✴️

By applying the technique of laser cooling to a sample of positronium, the AEgIS experiment at CERN has managed to reduce the temperature of a positronium sample from 380 to 170 degrees kelvin for the first time ever.

This is an experimental feat
