The very early favorite to be the Chargers' first-round pick in 2025 is, without a shadow of a doubt, Michigan TE Colston Loveland.

I was 100% on team Malik Nabers with the 5th pick, and while I like the class the Chargers put together, I still am on that train. With the benefit of hindsight, the draft could've been:

1 - Nabers
2 - JPJ
3 - Colson
4 - Eboigbe, Tampa
5 - Hart
6 - Vidal
7 - Rice, Johnson

Ekeler had a great career with the Bolts and is one of the best UDFA stories in the league. Why are we acting like he was some scrub because he had one bad year?

As they did last year, the Steelers and Eagles once again knocked the draft out of the park according to the consensus big board!

Falcons and Commanders... not so much

One thing that is important to note when we look at consensus big board vs. where a prospect actually went:

Just because someone was much higher on the consensus big board doesn't make it an automatic hit.

Isaiah Spiller is one of the best 'value' picks of the last 3 years.

Based on these numbers, the Chargers' 2024 class ended up +6 (positive being good) in draft pick 'value' compared to the consensus board.

Last year, they were -251 (105 of which was Derius Davis, though, who was arguably their best pick).

Still much better.

I have a feeling the only gripe we will have with the Chargers draft class three years from now is taking two corners in the fifth instead of taking Hunter Nourzad.

Such a bummer he landed in KC. Special prospect.

One of the few positions that is not a need (lol) but Gabriel Murphy might be the guy if the Chargers are truly going BPA.

If some need is sprinkled in, Julian Pearl might make sense.

Thought it would be Cornelius Johnson because of Michigan connections but the Chargers are staying true to BPA on their board in this draft.

Curious why he fell so far, but great value for Rice. Taking a second WR was always the move (and is a smart one).

Look, I love this draft class so this is not a knock on the class.

But it isn't hard to addressed needs in the draft when pretty much over half the roster is a need 🤣
