4. Boar : whilst many folk tales revolve around the animal being hunted, in Druid lore the sow (female) symbolises generosity and the nourishment of the Earth

At St. Bees, beware a watery end whilst following the haunting melody from rocks where the Merfolk bask in the sun. The singer is a Sea Witch, lamenting her own children lost to the sea.

The 'Ginger Beast of Beckermet' and the 'Sale Fell Ape' refer to sightings of a large hairy humanoid figure. Perhaps a 'woodwose', a 'wildman of the woods' from folklore.

In local #folklore , under Great Urswick Tarn is the village of Lile Ooston. Legend has it that a resident witch turned men into pigs and dogs and an earthquake buried the community as divine punishment.
