It's officially Fleet Week New York!

Today, we celebrate Battleship New Jersey’s 81st Commissioning Anniversary!

While riveting was the established technology at the time Battleship New Jersey was built, throughout her career, most of her changes and repairs were done by welding. #DryDockNJ

This dry docking will allow us to continue exhibiting Battleship New Jersey’s history and sharing the stories of those who served onboard. Check out this Veteran Spotlight on Jeff and Anthony who served during Beirut. #DryDockNJ

Even though we don’t have an official return date yet, we’re planning to be back in Camden to celebrate Independence Day! Watch fireworks on deck and enjoy live music with food and bar service on June 29 and July 3. Tickets for both dates are available at the link in bio!

While Battleship New Jersey was towed to Paulsboro Marine Terminal for ballast and again to Dry Dock #3 at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, crew members inspected lower areas of the ship for leaks and other issues to ensure a safe and successful move. #DryDockNJ

This system of coatings will fill in most of the pitting on the hull and form an abrasion-resistant barrier. With each coat a different color, over the next 30 years we’ll be able to tell how much of the paint has worn away! #DryDockNJ
