Delighted to advertise a #PhD project on #radar #aeroecology at University of Leeds with the BioDAR Project to study #birds , #insects or #bats . Open to graduates from any quantitative discipline ( #ecology , #computerscience , #meteorology , #DataScience , etc) findaphd.com/phds/project/r…
⭐️Our new #AskAClimateResearcher series is here! ⭐️
Join us through September as we pose climate change FAQs to our University of Leeds researchers.
This series aims to be informative, open conversations about climate change, and empower you to act. (1/4)

Is it #FlyingAntDay near you? The
BioDAR Project is using weather radar to track species of insects, and you can help by filling in their short survey below 👇
Have you had #FlyingAntDay yet? This thread by Buglife explains this natural phenomenon. Report your sightings to BioDAR Project who are investigating if swarming events can be detected on weather radar! bwars.com/content/flying…
Our new exciting #planteducation paper is out in Ecology and Evolution🌾🌵🌱!

Is it #FlyingAntDay near you?
Contrary to popular belief, Flying Ant Day can actually take place on different days in different places.
Ants can take flight at almost any point during the summer months. We need your help to find out when they're flying near you...
The BioDAR Project is running a public survey to track flying ant day across the country.
Researchers will compare results to radar observations, to see how well they can detect insects via radar.
When you spot flying ants, tell us via Google Forms ⤵️

They’re doing it again! 🐜 the ants are flying - if you’ve seen them flying in the UK please help us out with our project and fill in this short web form forms.gle/P3Tof3os6idBCY… BioDAR Project
Its officially #flyingantday !
If you're lucky enough to see any #flyingants near you, please help a scientist out and fill in this super short web form: forms.gle/P3Tof3os6idBCY…, and help the BioDAR Project track them all across the UK!
It only takes a minute! 🐜

Well done Freya 👏
BioDAR Project has been exploring how electromagnetic modelling can help radar to observe and monitor insects.
Science is a team effort. I thank all my collaborators for working on this project; in particular Tom Dally🐝🏳️🌈, who, without his expertise this paper would not have been completed.

My 1st first-author paper! We, BioDAR Project, show through modelling a #moth , morphological accuracy with inclusion of limbs & wings, improve upon the #radar cross section for simulations of #insects over using an ellipsoid. #ecology

THRILLED that our study 'Simulation of the Radar Cross Section of A Noctuid Moth' has been published 🍾
It's mine and BioDAR Project's first paper, and Freya I Addison 💉💉💉😷's first first-authored paper. WAHOO!
But what does it mean/why is it important? A 🧵

So proud! Just submitted my 1st, first-author paper! Hopefully in a few months you will see our Bernard the Moth work published in full! Thank you to all my co-authors, particularly Tom Dally🐝🏳️🌈 for his patience & expertise! #PhDLife #Radar #Aeroecology 🦋
