I am on a plane to San Francisco to celebrate my son’s graduation from law school. Joyful. But I’m also filled with a sense of dread: the moral rot at the heart of the country is in full view.

The takeaway:
Don’t tell people who they do and don’t belong to, lest you play yourself. He was mine. One of the most important I will and ever will have. I miss Melvin Wolinsky every single day.

He was, to be clear, my step-grandfather. But he was present at my birth, picked me up EVERY TUESDAY until I left for college, paid for part of college, and literally put my contacts in my eye when I was too scared too.

Was recently reminded of the trauma of being a tiny young thing and walking around with my grandpa and having people tell me he wasn’t my grandpa because he was a Jewish man.

When I tell you that vision boards DO work, you better believe me! When I also tell you to take that leap of faith (even if you’re scared), you better!
