Ever so pleased to find the blue form of our native Wood Anemone, Pendrift Downs, this evening. I picked a white one (there were 100s of these) for comparison of the colours.

Very pleased to have found my first patch of Cornish Moneywort, growing in the bole of a tree, Pendrift Downs, this evening. It's very small!

Heah Spotted Orchid rosette, the first I've seen this season, Pendrift Downs, this evening. There's only 1 other record for this here, back in 2008.

Maer Lake near Bude, a bird reserve managed by Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Surveyed for plants today with special permission. The only bird I disturbed was a Pheasant!

If you get confused over what type of Red Clover you might have found, i.e. Red, Zig Zag or Alsike, check the stipules. Red Clover has a membranous stipule with a bristle like tip, the others don't. The leave here looked like Zig Zag, but the stipule proved otherwise.

The beautiful Spring Squill along clifftop turf at Efford Head near Bude. They even managed to survive intensive sheep grazing, so I guess they don't taste very nice to ruminants. The last photo shows the typical habitat for them.
