A Forth Valley MP has raised concerns over the potential closure of Grangemouth's oil refinery. More than 400 jobs are at risk, with Petroineos set to turn the site into a fuel import terminal. Alloa and Grangemouth MP Brian Leishman is urging them to rethink the closure.

Today is Merchant Navy Day when we remember merchant seafarers who keep maritime trade flowing to and from the UK.

The Royal British Legion plan to remove ASAP (Armed Services Advice Project) will mean Veterans suffering. I’ve written to the RBL Director General asking why ASAP is to be cut & to the Minister for Veteran’s and People at the Ministry of Defence requesting his support on this issue.

Tomorrow we have an energy debate in Parliament and I have requested to speak. I’ll be saying what I have always said. That we still need oil and we need the Grangemouth refinery.

Good reliable public transport is a must for employability and for boosting the local economy. I’ve requested to meet with McGills and Stagecoach about their bus service provision in Clackmannanshire and how it can be improved.

Thanks The Trussell Trust & Joseph Rowntree Foundation for discussing the Essentials Guarantee at Westminster this week. The basic rate of Universal Credit should at least cover the cost of essentials like food, household bills & travel. Currently there is a shortfall pushing people towards foodbanks.
