The framework of the discussion around the impact of the criminal justice system oftentimes stereotypes Black & brown people as perpetrators of crime — the defendants.

When you look at the data of the victims SF DISTRICT ATTORNEY serves, overwhelmingly they are Black & brown people.

People should take the message that San Franciscans are going to make sure that there's accountability in our city again, for this type of crime. No longer do they view it as low-level crime.

When we provide adequate evidence to them, they will convict.

These crimes demand accountability + we need to send the msg to others who engage in open & brash thefts that our office will pursue & prosecute those involved.

This verdict emphasizes that SF will not tolerate these offenders who attempt to take advantage of our biz community.

Retail theft continues to have a major impact on SF biz from the small corner store to the large retail stores. Individuals such as Aziza Graves commit egregious thefts through brazen + repeated conduct that greatly impacts retailers’ ability to operate & serve the public.

The pre-need cremation industry has historically been prone to abuse, which is why CA law provides robust protection to consumers, many of whom are elderly. Consumer protection statutes must be strictly followed. When they are not, we will not hesitate to take action. SF DISTRICT ATTORNEY
