A series of large wave events were recorded at CDIP stations along the WC as a result of storm activity in the Pacific.Ā The pulse that arrived on 12/28 came close to historic records at some stations, and compounded by high tides, caused coastal flooding and erosion.

CDIP stations in HI and CA recorded elevated swell last week, created by a strong extratropical storm system. The Hs exceeded the NOAA GFS WW3 forecast by several meters. With El Nino, more strong storm activity is expected. Credit to PacIOOS who maintain the HI stations.

CDIP stations measured historic waves from Idalia in FL, peaking at ~9 m (30 ft) off St Petersburg. Waves >4 m Hs were measured at stations along NC.
