Last week, we partnered with Council of Europe to bring European human rights standards to Belarus. Anna Maralyan, president of two human rights organizations based in Strasbourg & Yerevan, led discussions on fair trial rights with Belarusian lawyers and human rights defenders.

🤝 As part of CEELI Institute's fellowship program, we were delighted to facilitate a meeting with 🇺🇦 fellows Marharyta Tarasova & Nataliya Kozarenko from the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union (Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union) and Anna Kurnytska, coordinator of the Ukrainian Consultation Centre.

We were delighted to facilitate this meeting with Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Justice Oleksandr Banchuk, Moldovan Deputy Minister of Justice Stanislav Copetchi, & Czech Deputy Minister of Justice Karel Dvořák in connection with our program on plea bargaining & asset forfeiture.

➡️ This week, we organized a 2-day program focusing on the role of plea bargaining as a useful tool in combatting corruption, with participants from Ukraine 🇺🇦, Romania 🇷🇴, and Moldova 🇲🇩—which all have some form of plea agreement procedure within their current legislation.
