The Chicago Fire Department joined the CPD, the City of Chicago, and the Nation in saying a final farewell to fallen Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca.

Chicago Fire Commissioner Annette Nance-Holt, CFD Exempt Members, and Staff paid their final respects to fallen Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home. The collective prayers of the CFD are with the Huesca family and every CPD member.

DDC 221, Batt 2, along with Engines 16 & 19, distributed smoke detectors and fire safety info on the 3600 block of S. Giles, following the unfortunate fire fatality that occurred overnight.

The fire at 3646 South Giles has resulted in a fatality. The woman taken to University of Chicago in critical condition passed away last night. The cause of the fire is undetermined. CFD will be on seen at 10:00 for fire safety distribution to neighbors. (LL)

Still & Box 3600 block of South Giles, companies responded to smoke in the basement of a home that is a 1.5 story.  Fire is out, 1 civilian transported to U of C (Red) NFI (2).

The women and men of the Chicago Fire Department mourn with our public safety partners in the tragic loss of Officer Luis Huesca, who was killed as he was on his way home from his shift. He was a six year veteran of CPD. His family is in our prayers.

The Chicago Fire Department extends our deepest condolences for the loss of one of your own. The family of this fallen officer and the members of the Chicago Police Department are in our thoughts and prayers.
