➡️NOT necessary to ensure public safety.
➡️An intervention by Congress ON BEHALF of analog AM broadcasting.

Did you know? AM & FM are the only radio that don't pay performers for their work. (Digital and streaming platforms pay performance royalties.) An #AMRadio mandate would condone this unfair system, allowing the broadcast industry to profit @ the expense of artists. #IRespectMusic

Is #AMRadio in ALL cars needed for emergency alerts? Per @FEMA, “the public is moving away from radio.” A Consumer Tech Association study post-a 2023 emergency alert system test found that 95% of Americans received the alert on their phone. Just 1% heard it via AM radio. #NoAMRadioMandate

U.S. automakers must compete for market share globally, and an #AMRadio mandate would add weight and cost to electric cars – putting American automakers at a disadvantage. Energy and Commerce Committee should reject mandates and keep American business competitive. #NoAMRadioMandate

Where consumers want AM radio, automakers will respond to that preference: that’s the market at work! Ultimately, that’s what we should all be advocating for: a free-market economy where Americans can decide what they want – not a heavy-handed #AMRadio mandate.

An #AMRadio mandate is especially inappropriate in service of an industry that has refused to invest in improvements to AM radio technology that would improve sound quality and reduce audible distortion – and instead sought government mandates to stay afloat.

On principle, Consumer Tech Association does not ask the government to fund our industry or mandate our products. We believe that marketplace competition, not dictates from the federal government, should determine which technologies thrive and grow. #AMRadio Energy and Commerce Committee
