A team of LAGER Can volunteers alongside Canal & River Trust London & SE have filled more than 1,000 sacks of rubbish which they collected during a two week blitz on Ealing's Grand Union Canal towpaths as part of Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean.

Session 8 of our #GBSpringClean Great Big Canal Cleanup. 7 volunteers, 2 hours, 50 bags’ worth litter & large items. Drowned like rats. Reported a dead cat. Keep Britain Tidy Final section tomorrow.
Session 7 of our Great Big Canal Cleanup involved a team of 7, plus 2 Canal & River Trust London & SE team members to Hayes Bridge from where they filled the boat with junk from the towpath & vegetation along the stretch to Willow Tree Marina. Final pic shows how it should look all the time..
Session 6 of our Great Big Canal Cleanup - part of Keep Britain Tidy’s #GBSpringClean - saw one member tackle the Blair Peach Primary School to Bulls Bridge section of the #GrandUnionCanal towpath. Path itself was pretty clean but loadza rubbish behind all the fences.

Our 4th #GBSpringClean Great Big Canal Cleanup Events saw 17 of us remove this lot from the stretch of the Grand Union Canal between Adelaide Yard & Top Lock in 3hrs. Thanks to team from the Hill Group for invaluable assistance!
#GBSpringClean event 3 involved removing another (bigger) barge-full of trash from the Grand Union Canal towpath and adjacent green areas in Greenford-Northolt, a lot of it ancient and dug in. 8 people, 5 hours, 248 bags’ worth of rubbish. 🙏 to Canal & River Trust London & SE Gareth & Sophie.
Our 2nd #GBSpringClean event today. 11 of us removed est 2.5 tonnes of rubbish from the #GrandUnionCanal towpath between Piggery & Ballot Box Bridges. The barge would not hold any more! Next up - Black Horse Bridge to Rowdell Rd Bridge tomorrow - with a bigger barge.
1st #GBSpringClean event in our #GBCanalCleanup (we couldn’t wait!). 85 bags’ worth rubbish, recycling & ‘unbaggables’ removed between Black Horse & Ballot Box Bridges. 4 events with Canal & River Trust planned & other sections in #LBEaling to be tackled in smaller events. Join us?
12 eco-warriors representing groups inc LAGER Can CURB - CleanUptheRiverBrent #CURB DollisBrookers #LocalActionforMuttonBrook joined forces to remove all this from #BrentReservoir foreshore this morning. Brilliant teamwork and great fun.
