Great session with lots of issues discussed -Does GB policy need updated? How often shld GBs be reviewed? What is the relationship with LNRS? What is 'grey belt'? Clear conclusions around need for better co-ordination across partners & need to #Bringbackstrategicplanning
Under last The Labour Party Gov, a role of reg planning was to identify barriers to strategic b'field sites & work with the GO & RDA to unblock. It needed strategic planners to identify & prioritise the sites, arrange fund streams & co-ordinate the diff partners (incl developers).
LP examinations are supposed to be the final hurdle but they've increasingly used to address controversial issues, to push government agencies into a position & sort funding gaps on very protracted timetables. Strategic plans would sort most of these. planningresource.co.uk/article/186942…

Shocking behaviour from the media yet again with their witch hunt on Angela Rayner 🌹. Well done Yvette Cooper for trying to talk about what most people are actually interested/worried about.
Amazing trip to Highgate Cemetery today with big sis Marguerite Kaye - highlights included Malcolm McLaren, Karl Mark and George Michael's graves - I shed a tear at George's grave!
I love #Folkstone & how the town has been revitalised through art & culture. I finally got to see Anthony Gormley's brilliant sculpture Another Time XVIII
Finally got to see #StandingontheSkysEdge about Sheffield's Park Hill Housing Estate through the decades. As a planner with a keen interest in politics & a fan of richardhawley this was brilliant!
Time for a grown-up debate about GB - how we review it (strategically), where we should prioritise affordable housing & how we can make GB more 'green' - sweat it's assets. Well done The Labour Party Matthew Pennycook MP for getting this vital debate started.
