After a visit to FAD1 off #Bridgetown (FAD maintenance is important) I had lunch with the #Barbados Minister of Environment and Blue Economy, H.E. Adrian Forde at Oistins Fish Market, discussing why #Bluetransformation is crucial for a sustainable ocean.
Visiting Barbados Ruminant Farm Services, a non profit organization led by Wayne Smith, receiving Food and Agriculture Organization support to turn fish waste (mostly from flying fish trimmings) into super quality fertilizer and animal feed products. #circulareconomy . I followed this with a visit to Shorelinez, a seafood wholesaler in St John, Barbados, installing a bio-processor to transform 1000kg of fish trimmings into high quality crop fertilizers in 24h. #bluetransformation and #circulareconomy . Fisheries & Aquaculture
I visited Barbados’ Adams Aquafarm, a thriving #hydroponics business and training facility, supported by @fao in its earlier stages. As Cristina, the owner told me, if she had access to finance she would double it in size, that’s how well it works
