BREAKING: #G7 agree to phase out coal in the first half of the 2030s

📢The G7 has just agreed to phase out coal power by the early 2030s - almost all members are already taking major steps to achieve this goal by 2030, in alignment with 1.5°C pathways.

This is big step for Japan, the only #G7 country without a domestic coal phaseout commitment.

BREAKING: #G7 agree to phase out domestic coal during the first half of 2030s. This will help accelerate the shift of investment from coal to clean technology in particular in Japan and more broadly in the whole Asian coal economy, including China and India.

Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin kicked off the plenary session of the #G7 Ministers’ meeting on Climate, Energy and Environment.
They'll address the ongoing climate, energy and environmental crisis, with a focus on the most vulnerable areas and populations. #G7 Italy

'The G7 should set a goal to triple their renewable capacity,' states GRA's partner Ember ahead of the #G7 Ministerial Meeting on Climate, Energy and Environment. This goal would be imperative to achieve the global #3xRenewables target.

If only people understood the technical advances made to get to the grid being able to function for one hour with such low fossil fuel, and how it holds whether it is an hour or years on end.
