Labour is committed to seeing the deal through that will secure the consortium’s takeover. Every councillor agreed that the club should not be used as a political football. It is a shame that Cllr Cox is breaking that promise but perhaps unsurprising.

Pretty disgraceful that Cllr Cox is now seeming to suggest that the future of SUFC is at risk if he's no longer council leader.

For the avoidance of doubt, it was me who proposed a motion last year on saving SUFC, and Southend Labour are signed up to do whatever we can to help.

Despite having a reduced group and not enough support to form a stable administration the Tory Leader of Southend Council is refusing to accept reality, resign, and allow a stable administration to form. They don’t have Southend’s interests at heart.

I’m not one for complaining but I am gutted! I spent 27 years in the Army and today I was going to vote in my local elections.

I was sadly turned away at the door as my Veteran ID was not allowed as formal ID.

I will be fighting for this “special ID” to be “more” formal🇬🇧

Disgraceful that this government has bought in changes which means Adam Diver a 27 year veteran was unable to vote using his HM Armed Forces Veteran ID

An interesting pledge from Southend Conservatives, given they just cancelled a cabinet meeting to agree details of procurement of a new waste contract, delaying until after the elections.

Clearly worth as much as their promise last year to keep weekly waste collections 🙄
