Coaches there is no natty for fall leagues at the youth level. Kids can play sports, be competitive & still have fun. There’s a reason youth sports often get a bad rap and it isn’t because of the kids. 🤷🏼‍♀️

‘Trap’ dribble. Can be used multiple spots on the floor or open court but the focus here was BS action. Attacking a hedge or a defender in general. Get inside of defense, trap them in a space before exploding to rim. We used the passer to simulate a defender chasing the screen.

Team passing drill with heavy balls. Working on skip passes, outside hand zip passes & drive & drift. Does wonders for ball strength & passing precision.

Ball screen action. Working on setting up depth of screen, getting downhill off an aggressive hedge (ball rack) and attacking North/South while staying tight & low on our dribble. Best way to stop a hedging team is to be in attack mode. 💪🏼

A progression from our passing/feed the post drill this week. Initial pass inside isn’t there, improve the angle by corner pass & allow our post to keep their seal. Relocate for the kick out & an extra pass. I have a feeling that a high-low look is on deck next. 🤔

My mother was notoriously frugal. 6-kids in my fam & no call waiting. Got to college & set up my dorm phone. (Yes that was a thing) Operator says “Do u want call waiting?” I ask her how much assuming it had to be $$ if my mom wouldn’t pay it. (Operator) “$1.99 more a month.” 😭

Simple drill working on skip passes, guards dragging down below the post defender (trash can) & relocating after the pass inside. We are exaggerating the drag distance in this drill. Can easily add a post dive or extra shots on the perimeter. Loyola Women's Basketball

Being coachable translates to every aspect of your life. My son’s 5th grade math teacher offered to come early/stay late to work w/ him. He declined. His 1st test result reflected his mindset. He reconsidered her offer & aced his next exam. There is no age limit on learning.

Coaches, hosting fall open gyms are a great way to help under recruited 2023 prospects get more looks. Still a lot of schools sorting out classes due to COVID years.

Fundamentals ALWAYS translate at the next level. Footwork, shell concepts, work ethic, pace. If it hasn’t been taught or learned by the time you hit college it will inevitably slow you down at the next level.

Players. They’re players everywhere loaded w/ potential. What you do w/ that potential is what separates you. And while there’s always time in ur life to continue to grow & get better as a person, as a basketball player accelerating that growth is critical to play at next level.
