Europe mourns Jacques Delors.

A giant. A public servant. A visionary.

He believed in a Europe built on “competition that stimulates, cooperation that strengthens, and solidarity that unites.”

His vision guides us still today.

We honour his memory by keeping his legacy alive.

The attacks against civilian targets this morning have shown once more Russia's disregard for international law and the laws of war.
I pay homage to the courage of the Ukrainians, whose struggle is also ours, for peace throughout Europe. They shall continue to have our support.

We have stood by Ukraine since day one of Russia's war of aggression.
 
With almost €85 billion in financial, humanitarian and military support.
 
We will keep supporting Ukraine for as long as it takes.

And now we are opening the door to the EU to our friend and neighbour.

With the passing of Jacques Delors, Europe lost one of its last great architects.

The College of Europe community lost a dynamic and committed former president of its administrative council (1995-2000.)
