gives a legal framework to realize some of the things Jonathan Haidt writes about in the The Anxious Generation.
This is a real deal response to a shallow and lacking style of criticism.
Jonathan Haidt and his collaborators have indeed “shown their work” and there is very little doubt that a phone based childhood supplanting a play based one has been deeply harmful.
A review in Nature, by Candice Odgers, asserts that I have mistaken correlation for causation and that “there is no evidence that using these platforms is rewiring children’s brains or driving an epidemic of mental illness.” Both of these assertions are untrue.
