Great question! Hundreds come from the English tradition of dividing land, and is the only state that still maintains them! It’s debated as to what it meant though… some say every 100 families or farms, or every 100 men for a militia.

I echo Delaware Public Archives's advice about keeping things out of basements, attics, garages! If you can, invest in some acid/lignin free storage materials. Family historians are the experts on their papers, & can provide personal context & identification that archivists can't.

Please don’t store your records in the basement or attic! Keep them (if possible) in cooler, dry places, and label everything you can!
