The weird and wonderful Maiden Castle, Yorkshire Dales, with its peculiar stone avenue and adjacent burial mound ๐Ÿค”

The site has never been dated, and it's not clear whether it is Iron Age, Bronze Age, or Anglo-Saxon.

Sit back and join me on yesterday's Watership Down walk, with my first ever narrated walking video! Apologies for the phone quality and wind noise, I will get there! I endured stormy weather but it cleared for some colourful drone footage. YouTube link:

A swopping view from 40,000 years ago....

Stone truly is a foundation...well...stone of our understanding of early prehistory. While used to make the tools which helped provide a name for the period, it actually offered more than a sharp edge.

We succeeded in recreating a Neolithic flatbread!

This is about as close as I can figure out how to make bread as it would have been baked in one of the first daily bread-making cultures, ca. 9,000 years ago. Iโ€™ll let you judge the authenticityโ€ฆbut the taste is fantastic.
