Was fantastic to (re)connect with Ben Harvey at the wonderful Shimoda research station in Japan 🇯🇵. Lots of interesting ideas for collaboration on kelp, warming and experimental field ecology. Also Japanese people/food/trains/countryside are just amazing. 🤩 🇯🇵 ❤️ 🌊 🌱 🤓 📈

Bit later than planned, but finally got the dive season properly underway: loggers retrieved/replaced, kelp counted and samples collected. 11 deg C water temp, 3-4 m viz, very much looking forward to summer arriving!!! Great article on the extremely high temperatures being recorded across the global ocean. Human induced climate change main driver but other factors important.

Despite pretty awful sea state and visibility, was great to get the 2024 MBA scientific diving season up and running with some training/refresher dives. Superb support from Tritonia - Providing Underwater Clarity and RV MBA Sepia as always. Now we just need some settled weather and decent viz 🌞🦐🌱🌊🤞🤞🤞
