Spotted this cleptoparasite Coelioxys sp. in the garden the other day. Buzzing it's way around the hose on the wall which each year has solitary bees using the screw holes for nest chambers. Looking for its next host. BWARS Staffs Ecology StaffsWildlife πŸ¦”πŸ„πŸ¦‡

I've just signed this, and would urge everybody to do so. We don't need to spray poisons in our streets and parks. Pls RT pesticidecollaboration.org/go-pesticide-f… #GoPesticideFree PAN UK

Anyone able to offer an ID for this Nomada from Staffordshire this Sunday? One quick shot and not the sharpest. I see reddish brown beneath the yellow on T1, I think there are a couple of candidates but not confident of either. Thanks. Lisa Williams Staffs Ecology Steven Falk

Very sad news - Tony Soper, a huge influence on generations of birders and broadcasters, who I had the huge privilege of working with and getting to know, has died aged 95. The last person who was there at the start of the BBC Natural History Unit. A lovely man.
