1/2 #speciesaday no. 247 is Cassida vibex. A common but attractive tortoise beetle that feeds on knawpeeds ad thistles. No other Cassida look anything like this, so easy to field det. Often found by suction.

A pleasant but windy pm on Friday, with 15 species recorded, including Nephus quadrimaculatus (Ivy LB), Scymnus haemorrhoidalis (Red-rumped LB), Stethorus pusillus (Dot LB), and the smallest 14-spot I've ever seen, with 16-spot for comparison. #VC40Ladybirds #MicroLadybird

1/2 #speciesaday no. 228 is Cliff Tiger Beetle (Cyilndera germanica). A small, plainish tiger beetle of southern, south-facing soft rock cliffs. Nationally Rare, Vulnerable and Section 41. I have seen them in numbers on just one day at the start of June.

The five British tiger beetles from E F Linssen's Beetles of the British Isles (1959) in the classic Wayside & Woodland. All are nationally rare or scarce apart from the first, the common Green Tiger Beetle.
