Whatever the market will bear. That's how Pfizer Inc. & all drug companies price products.
This is more than a 600% price increase from the original price of $19.50. And they were making fine profits at that price for a technology developed w/taxpayer funding.

Democrats across the country are running hard on the fact that they lowered Rx drug prices. And well they should; it is wildly popular. They deserve credit for getting it done in the face of staunch Republican and industry opposition. thehill.com/reliable-voter…

No surprise @phrma is fighting. But the part in caps is quite a statement from The Wall Street Journal:
'Drugmakers are trying to blunt Medicare’s newfound power to negotiate medicine prices while coping with internal industry disputes and EBBING INFLUENCE IN WASHINGTON, DC.'wsj.com/articles/drugm…

Utahans definitely deserve better than Mike Lee who has introduced legislation to stop Medicare negotiation and RAISE THE PRICES OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. He's not working for the people in Utah--he's working for Big Pharma. We're letting UT voters know.

Big Pharma often says drugs take 10% of our health care dollar. But that's only retail drugs. When you include drugs given in doc offices & hospitals it's 14%.
Now this study shows drugs comprise 27% of fee for service Medicare spending net of rebates! jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

“Allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices is good for patients, good for families, & good for taxpayers. It is good for us as a country — for Americans who have long been suffering from skyrocketing drug prices, the Inflation Reduction Act offers solutions.”👏👏 Rep. Katie Porter

This is absolutely unacceptable in the U.S. We provided relief to folks on Medicare w/a $35 monthly copay cap in the Inflation Reduction Act. But we need to reduce insulin prices & extend lower oop to all people who are insulin dependent.

Bruce Booth True (and not news at all). The pharma sector picks and chooses what diseases to focus on not based on public health needs but on expected returns. The market is working, but it is not the market we should want.

Rx reforms in the Inflation Reduction Act lower prices & save patients millions of $$$. But there's more to do, and President Biden has directed the Medicare Innovation Center to bring forward plans to further drive down costs. We look forward to supporting.

Great piece explaining how drug corporations exploit our patent system not to reward innovation that helps patients and saves lives, but to block competition and keep prices high. From Genius Grant recipient Priti Krishtel npr.org/sections/goats…

Patients are denouncing this Rogue's Gallery of Senators who seek to raise Rx drug prices & out of pocket costs by repealing parts of the Inflation Reduction Act. It would hurt millions of Americans; we're alerting voters in each state. patientsforaffordabledrugsnow.org/2022/10/13/sta…

For those of us who are immune-compromised by a disease, the drugs we take for the disease, or both, this story is important: Preliminary evidence indicates new COVID variants can evade vaccines & monoclonal antibodies like Evusheld. Be careful out there. fortune.com/well/2022/10/1…

Whether you're a Maddow fan or not, you should watch this. She correctly summarizes how the Inflation Reduction Act lowers Rx drug prices. Then explains that @MarcoRubio is running on his new legislation to repeal it & RAISE prices for Americans. For Real. msnbc.com/rachel-maddow/…

.Chuck Grassley has been a leader on lowering Rx drug prices. Now, he's joined with Sen. Maria Cantwell & 5 other Senators to request that FTC complete its PBM inquiry within a year. We, too, support the inquiry & that the FTC finish as soon as possible. grassley.senate.gov/news/news-rele…

Excellent story explaining how new price for two old drugs now in combination hurts not only ALS patients, but all of us by pushing premiums higher. Somebody has to pay for it. It's 20x the price of the two drugs given separately. wsj.com/articles/why-a…
