I often get this question from followers: “You tell people to eat a lot of olive oil. Isn’t that bad for cholesterol?”

I have advocated prevention for years because it’s an active strategy we can all engage in, starting today. By prioritizing a healthy lifestyle, we can not only potentially prevent the onset of disease but also contribute to our overall well-being.

Ultra processed foods make up 58% of the caloric intake for the typical american adult.

They challenge our insulin system, blood sugar regulation and increase uric acid-which can lead to compromised blood flow which threatens brain health.

Do we really want to increase metabolism?

I think a balanced metabolism should be our goal. To that end, we should dramatically reduce our consumption of sugar and refined carbohydrates while ensuring we get lots of quality sleep and exercise.

My take on the carnivore diet:

Meat and animal products can be a good source of protein and other nutrients, but they do not contain fiber–which is critical for health.

So, a diet–like the carnivore diet–that supplies no fiber doesn’t seem like the best idea to me.

Research has revealed the health dangers of many conventional oral care products. I think it’s reasonable to avoid mouthwashes that “target bacteria”. We don’t want to sterilize the mouth.

Currently, I am using a brand of toothpaste called Earth Paste.

Clinical trials of drugs designed to reduce amyloid-beta in the brain have failed to demonstrate significant clinical benefit.
Despite reducing amyloid-beta levels, they did not alter the progression of cognitive decline.

We have yet to find a truly meaningful, reliable, and safe treatment for disease that can halt or reverse its progression. Our inability to find a definitive cure or treatment indicates that we may be neglecting a key factor: prevention.
