Leora Cruddas CBE While the avowed purpose of MATs is to be a collaborative force for positive learning, there are also disadvantages to having large organisations in overarching control of schools. In addition, the promotion of MATs by the current govt is at least partly politically motivated.

What some people try to ‘sell’ in ‘coaching’ is their ideal of privilege. They have found themselves or fought for their current good fortune. We can’t all have their experience, their assets, their position, their life choices. This applies in education and beyond. Be discerning

But not all of them … (of course).

In our U.K. education landscape there’s a grand tradition of white men rising to the top of a female dominated workforce, of white men taking the wisdom of others to colonise the space with monocultural, commercially-inspired quick fixes, of white men lauding & citing each other.

Rachel Lofthouse Wonder if corporate curricula and scripted lessons are a factor in this. TALIS data shows that the vast majority of teachers join the profession due to a moral imperative. If you can't use your professionalism fully you might decide to move on??

We are lacking in freedom in our profession at this moment in time. This is stifling ideas, individuality, intellect & creativity. Those of us in relatively free working environments have a duty to remind everyone what is possible.

So much to consider on the impacts of high teacher turnover - filling posts is not the same creating a sustainable, mature, informed, confident, diverse profession.
