Environment Victoria We reiterated that the EPA failed to properly consider matters under the Vic Climate Change Act 2017 - including the potential impacts of climate change on air pollution (eg. increased frequency and severity of bushfires = increased air pollution).
Environment Victoria The EPA also argued that it wasn’t mandatory to consider whether the licence changes were consistent with State Environment Protection Policy, which required power station operators to apply best practice to manage emissions.
Environment Victoria The EPA argued that it was “not mandatory” to consider principles of environment protection in setting air emissions limits.
Environment Victoria Today, we finished hearing from the energy companies, Energy Australia and Alinta, before the EPA made its submissions.
