A superb take down, Daniel Szeligowski. Particularly pernicious is that (a) one of the authors, in particular, has a history of urging the West to abandon Ukraine; (b) this resembles a standard pro-Soviet Cold War narrative - its the West’s fault. It wasn’t, and it isn’t. @Debski
“The major players in the Russia–China–Iran–North Korea coalition are increasingly willing to use open violence…& to threaten much worse, including use of nuclear weapons. They are united by a growing belief their moment is coming.” Eliot A Cohen theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
Very good piece by Eliot A Cohen.
“It is in this frame, then, that the U.S. and its allies have to consider next steps…American leaders will err if they attempt to compartmentalize each of their challenges…Until Iran pays a visible and heavy price, the problem will get worse.”
My take on the Iranian missile attacks: it’s a lot bigger than tit for tat, and Israel’s tactical success is by no means the end of it. The Atlantic CSIS Johns Hopkins SAIS theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

Finished another great book by two keen observers of power, William Shakespeare and Eliot A Cohen.
Cohen deftly analyzes the psychology of #power - how it’s acquired, exercised and lost through Shakespeare’s works.
Superb study of literature and #leadership . A very good read.
In the latest episode of #ShieldoftheRepublic Eric and I interview peter pomerantsev, the author of a brilliant new book about Sefton Delmer, the master of British black propaganda during World War II. Lessons for today included. CSIS Johns Hopkins SAIS thebulwark.com/podcast-episod…
The Miller Center’s Eric Edelman and Eliot A Cohen welcome peter pomerantsev on the #ShieldoftheRepublic podcast.
They discuss lessons from Sefton Delmer's work for today’s world—defeating Putin’s propaganda and breaking through the propaganda of MAGA.

Excuse me, Shashank Joshi, I believe that I earned this one! Mind you, I resent being identified merely as a “political scientist” rather than something more inspiring, like “man of letters” or “mad-dog bourgeois fiend.”
Eric Edelman and I host Liz Cheney on the latest #ShieldoftheRepublic , and discuss not only Trump but, just as importantly, what may lie beyond. The Bulwark thebulwark.com/podcast-episod…
