How often do Cochrane review authors consider core outcome sets (COS) when they are available?

Ian Saldanha, MBBS, MPH, PhD (he/him/his) found that out of 294 reviews 37 used all or some of the identified COS and an overwhelming 101 reviews that have a COS available did not use them.

Question to the plenary panel - should Cochrane Reviews mandate coproduction? Key theme from the panel responses is the importance of organisation & community readiness to ensure coproduction is not token!

Coproduction is an area where there’s limited data on impact - a call to action at today’s plenary for the Cochrane to support generation of impact evidence!

(& a lil plug) & do consider submitting to our journal onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/283290…

A call to action to take a more active role in research can help with engagement. This can produce trustworthiness of research organisations but also the capacity of those with lived experience.

Top tips for inspiring the next generation in Cochrane from the panel - empower them to think they can change the world, walk the talk, have people who can coordinate others to collaborate, show by doing, have a shared goal & don't forget the technology

Jan Chalmers, nurse, wife of Iain Chalmers, did much to support the beginnings of the Cochrane Collaboration. Lovely to hear her share memories of welcoming those early activists into their home
