The simple reality is that no modern political party should have a place for people like Natalie Elphicke. That both parties have been willing to overlook, minimise and (in Buckland’s case) cover up her awfulness when it suits rather says it all about the state of politics.

The biggest story today is that the then-Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice was a direct witness to a criminal attempt to pervert the course of justice, and covered it up for four years because it involved one of his political allies.

Turning things around

Would love to hear how emissions can be cut by at least 50% in the next 66 months (by 2030) without a major- socio-economic shock that slashes economic activity

This MUST happen to have any chance of sidestepping dangerous, all-pervasive, climate breakdown

-The Advancement of desert is alarming
-Our major rivers are drying
-Proliferation of pest and pathogens
-Development of tropical diseases.
-Our crop are dieing out.

We're an astonishingly adaptable species, but humans are not designed to live well at this scale, and we are not succeeding at it. Young people are simply feeling it the most, and will be disproportionately impacted by the collapse, which is well nigh inevitable.

Also, I realise it may not have to be pretty to our eyes to benefit wildlife. Straggly growth, dead leaves etc. may still benefit other life forms than ourselves
