I had a great time interviewing @emmabostian about transitioning from engineer to manager and what it was like. I think one of the most interesting insights was measuring productivity and the mind shift that you need to feel successful.

My first manager at Uber started a GitHub page back at the time with resources to become a more proficient developer - ones he personally found helpful (he did not have a CS degree).

It’s a strange feeling when you realize the country you’ve lived in for the past 3,5 years has become home and the country you were born and raised in for 24 years is where you feel like a tourist. Any other emigrant feel this way? 🤔

Caring for an elderly or sick family member also puts things in perspective. Spending every day in the ICU feeding and cleaning the woman who helped raise me was my first run in with the reality of growing older. I’m grateful but it’s taken a toll 🙁

Unfortunately my grandma is gravely ill right now so I took a last minute trip to help care for her. I’m grateful I got to spend quality time together but being an emigrant is so difficult when you have family emergencies 😔
