St Andrew, Coln Rogers, Gloucestershire. Saxon. A tablet within the church has the names of everyone from the village who served in the armed forces during World War I, all of whom survived, making it one of the Thankful Villages.

Switzerland: Gruyère Church. The church was built during the C13 and was dedicated to St. Theodul in 1254. The church was twice destroyed by fire, in 1679 when lightning struck the tower and burnt the bells and again in 1856. It was renovated again 4 years later, in 1860.

Scotland: romantically entwined in their last embrace, Walter Stewart and his wife Mary. Walter died in 1295, some years after his wife. Inchmahome Abbey, Lake of Menteith.

The Commonwealth War Graves commemorates nearly 3,000 women who died during the First & Second World Wars. From pilots and SOE officers to nurses and munitions workers, women served in a number of roles abroad and at home. This is the grave of Assistant Cook Grace Sharp at Dunblane Cathedral.

Does anyone recognise this town, painted by Gilbert Spencer, probably c. 1920s? The tower of the church (or cathedral?) is quite distinctive.

Scotland: Trossachs Parish Church was built in 1849 by G. P. Kennedy. It is situated on a picturesque knoll overlooking Loch Achray. The interior was re-ordered in 1894.

Scotland: Port of Menteith Church. In the evening sun/interior. Attending a service this morning, I experienced for the first time heated pews. They only heat up when you down, and only the bits actually being sat on gets warm. First church in Scotland to have them apparently.
