Famine is imminent in Gaza. An immediate humanitarian ceasefire is imperative to alleviate civilian suffering and enable the crucial delivery of essential resources for resuming food production. Peace is a prerequisite for food security & the #RightToFood is a basic human right.

Italy's focus on food security needs in #Gaza & support to Food and Agriculture Organization & partners is vital & welcomed. Farmers need urgent access to agricultural inputs to resume food production. FAO is best positioned to rapidly distribute these vital inputs but we need access to deliver safely.

Bananas are nutritious & provide incomes for thousands of people. More sustainable production & trade, better investments & fair distribution of costs are key to tackling the increasing environmental, social & economic challenges faced by the sector & turn them into opportunity.
