So, after taking a deep breath this morning after seeing the Nine newspapers and the ABC continuing their deliberately provocative - and misleading - story about Medicare/bulk-billing rorting, I thought I might offer some observations. .../1

Allegations of Medicare fraud in the media today are extremely disappointing and based on limited data and opinion. The vast majority of GPs are doing the right thing and deserve the community’s support.

While we're at it I'd like to point out that the opinions in these stories are, by the quoted parties own admission, based on a whole lot of guessing, and extrapolating tiny data sets that aren't representative. Look at previous papers and articles by the 2 'experts' quoted.

If any of the medical journalist or editors that follow me, or just any of the wider #auspol group could advise what/where/who exactly prompted this co-ordinated series of anti-GP hit-pieces in the media today [coincidentally 1 week before the budget]…I'd really appreciate it.
