3/ Raise our voice —speaking out as committed govts & others, like today, who care passionately about #inequality & building a more equal world.

This voice is bringing real change to #Chile and #Colombia . Their message is clear: let’s tax the wealthiest to tackle inequality.

2/ Redesign —tackling what makes our economies so unequal in the first place.

This means asserting workers’ rights to organize and breaking the barriers, norms & impunities that conspire against women’s safety and life opportunities. It means dismantling monopoly power.

1/ Redistribute —we have the means to claw back the huge gains at the top & put that to use to save lives and reduce inequality.

There is huge scope for taxing wealth and capital gains, as even IMF has made the case. We need permanent windfall taxes, across all sectors.

I'm so glad we're having this discussion. There are many questions being raised about how taxing wealth can reduce #inequality . It’s long overdue.

We urgently need a strong group of govts committed to reducing inequality, like those of Colombia & Chile here today.

The findings are shocking.

For example, 95% of countries failed to raise tax rates on the richest during the pandemic —and 11 actually reduced them.
