Our first #IowaLA23 keynote, Rebekkah Aldrich, unpacks the immediate impacts of extended heat waves + climate change to the Midwest.

Libraries serve as emergency spaces
+ responders, cooling stations, and heating centers during extreme weather, multiple 100-year floods, and derechos.

Delighted to be on the Iowa City Public Library Bookmobile at the Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration.

Outreach is so #HappyMaking because we can use a library’s platform to promote community initiatives, build connections and networks, and learn so much more about our beautiful, beautiful world.

The Iowa Library Assoc engaged Iowans about our impactful profession & forged new partnerships with community groups dedicated to the notion that free people read freely.

Ending with #BannedBooksWeek trivia with the ACLU of Iowa concludes a full week of #IntellectualFreedom advocacy. #Freadom

My hometown newspaper (which is locally resourced) featured two of my library besties who have supported the TheBurlingtonLibrary as Friends of the Library for years.

Their efforts have forever changed their library and #community in positive ways.

Celebrated another homecoming parade in the books with Swaelee on the Pentacrest. Now slowing the evening down with Peter Balestrieri over tea at La Wine. He’s playing some Skeeter Davis tunes which is quite lovely. 🎷

This is a tricky time for discourse, free thought, and access. Imposter syndrome crept in a few times while presenting at a baker’s dozen #IntellectualFreedom events this week.

So I’m grateful to be reminded that we do this work in community with openness, humility, and love.💜
