One year on from the military takeover, Sudan awaits the restoration of a civilian-led government. That is the only way forward & I welcome encouraging progress in recent weeks.

1/ Boris Johnson delivered Brexit and the great vaccine roll-out.

He led our country through some of the toughest challenges we have ever faced, and then took on Putin and his barbaric war in Ukraine.

We will always be grateful to him for that.

Rishi has the leadership qualities and the experience to help us navigate the economic challenges we, along with many countries, face. I’m delighted he has put himself forward to be our leader and next Prime Minister.

I was one of Boris’ earliest backers last time. He’s a friend and I love him to bits. But I just don’t think I can put us through all that again.

We must move forward in a calm, professional, competent manner with Rishi Sunak as our PM.
