🏞 The Barwon River has long been important to Geelong, flowing through our City from the Otways Ranges to Barwon Heads.

🛠️We’re excited to renew the discus and shot-put cages at Barwon Heads.

The renewal of the facilities will align with the Village Park Masterplan.

🚧Demolition of existing nets begins this week, meaning the cages will be unavailable during much of May.

As part of G21 Region Alliance , we’re excited to have teamed up with Football Victoria, insideEDGE Sport and Leisure Planning to deliver a revitalised Regional Football Strategy (2023-2033).

🏟 The updated framework ensures that football is on the right path to kick its goals by 2033.

🛠️ We’re making more improvements to one of our City’s most loved, free children’s attractions, Poppy Kettle Playground.

🚧 The popular play space will close temporarily from Monday 6 May through to Wednesday 8 May.

As we commemorate ANZAC Day, we acknowledge all men and women who have served our country.

🚋 110 years ago, the outbreak of conflict in World War One saw men from across Geelong sign up, responding to the ‘Recruiting Tram’, as it circled our streets in 1914.

🌻The entrance to the 21st Century Garden at Geelong Botanical Gardens has recently undergone a transformation.

🛠️The deck, which has existed as the original structure since the garden's establishment in the early 2000s, has been replaced by decking made from recycled plastic.

🌆 We’re commemorating ANZAC Day through a free projection art program at City Hall.

📸 Photography, historical images, paintings and monuments will be on show from 4am on Thursday 25 April and then run from dusk until 11pm every night, ending on Sunday 28 April.

🏐 We’ve joined forces with the Australian and Victorian governments to provide an extra court, sports lighting, players’ shelter, and fencing for netball at Anakie.

🛠️ We’re building the $510,000 project with combined funding.
