Advanced Legal Writing: Edit this draft. On the back side, you will find two sets of comments from senior colleagues. Reconcile them in a way that leaves neither editor angry.

These are the saddest days in the campus speech space. You never want to see police in riot gear descend on college student protesters. Yeah. We’ve got rules and laws and reasons. And it’s complicated. But it didn’t have to come to this. If admins had been doing their jobs for

Fine, I'll play:

From a reviewer: 'He writes like he drinks scotch straight from the bottle.'

In fairness, true. Also, the paper was accepted.

Update: It works!!!

We’re able to see a 2mm wide plastic ball at 30 centimeters, with only 1/1300th of our planned transmitting power.

This validates our SNR budget and gets us closer to our final goal: tracking and killing mosquitoes at a 3meters range

My friend (and now co-author) Alexis Akira Toda has a paper (with multiple co-authors) in the Journal of Econometrics that causes significant damage to the pre-1960 inequality estimates of Piketty, Saez and Zucman. Probably even more than those of Auten, Splinter, Phil Magness

As a torts prof, this 100% is incredible exam material.

As a human, it just makes me sad. By all accounts Chemerinsky is a wonderful human being. That students under his charge would treat him (and his wife) this way is damning of their character, as professionals and as humans.

Just recalled an exchange with Daniel Kahneman.💔

Shane: 'What is the most important trait for becoming a successful academic?'

Danny: 'The ability to exaggerate the importance of your research.'

All US ISPs published FCC Broadband Labels today. Next step due 10/10/24 - publishing machine-readable labels. BITAG is kicking off a consensus-based, voluntary effort to standardize the format of these labels - since it seems having commonality is better for everyone. /1

It seems Google's DMA compliance is a significant tailwind to hotel and flight booking aggregators like Booking com and Expedia.

The irony of NPR's capture by the left is that it dramatically reduces their reach/influence while simultaneously bolstering central claims made by their ideological adversaries ('the media is a left-wing propaganda machine'). Universities have followed a similar path.

BREAKING: Reports are coming in that the moon has censored the sun. FIRE is looking into it and stands by to assist if any other celestial bodies face censorship.

Meta just filed its Motion for Summary Judgment seeking dismissal of the FTC's 2020 suit challenging the decade-old Instagram and WhatsApp acquistions. This is *after* discovery; remember, the FTC had its case kicked out of court before discovery but refiled. A short 🧵.

For the unaware: Mike Jensen co-founded SSRN in 1994, started the JFE (@J_Fin_Economics) in 1974, invented agency theory alongside Ross, Mitnick, & Meckling in the 1970s, and coauthored the first event study (Fama, Fisher, Jensen, and Roll (1968)) among many other contributions
