This foul started outside but was carried over into the penalty area. This should have resulted in the a was rd of a penalty kick.

Marc I did a part 2 on this that stated clearly that the player had endangered the safety of his opponent and should be issued with a red card. Look recently Dermot has put his view on incidents with a freedom now that Riley has gone

Rob that is why VAR is available. In these situations I would like the ref to be invited to the monitor to have another look. Sadly that’s not how it is operating

Well done to referee David Coote and his team in the Arsenal v Aston Villa game. Both sets of players to their credit were well disciplined allowing the match officials to adopt a low profile approach.
